hi im not very good with skins and that and i know you have probably had a few threads like this but when i tried to download the skinn i went to sportsinteractive/footballmanager2006 but then the only thing there was games, matches and tactics. am i looking in the wrong place or is there something wrong?

You're looking in the wrong place!!!

Extract skins to C:/Program Files/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2006/data/skins

...Not the 'My Documents' one.
