As someone with a bit of community spirit and a hatred for unimaginative Metallic recolour skins, it's about time someone made a fairly good quality skinning guide. Hopefully once people see that it isn't as daunting as it seems it might encourage a few more people to be a little more daring and create some original skins.
So basically I thought I'd outline what I'm going to include and also open things up for suggestions of where people have the most trouble and what people want to see.
I'm going to try and go from the real basics of getting people started to some more advanced stuff. Also some of the thought processes I tend to use etc:
Graphical theory
XML theory
other basics
A walkthrough to making your first skin etc.
Those are fairly loose areas i know but if there is anything else people would like me to include I'm open to suggestion.
Sounds awesome,
I have been doing graphics for ages now, and designing websites etc so I think I have the graphical skills.
You're right, I thought it daunting to take on this challenge, and I know near enough nothing about xml files. If I had a guide, and a walkthrough then I think you will be seeing a few WHU skins flying around
This would be brilliant, I've always wanted to do skinning but never known how, I am at the moment making a MOTD one but it is just changing the graphics of the original Metallic skins. Great idea, I can't wait for it to be done
I look forward to reading the end result Radestock. It's something i've thought about doing in the past but I've alwasy felt it would be very difficult to master and their would be so much to learn i havent gotten any further than it just being a thought.
I've been waiting to start making a skin. I have plenty of thoughts in my head but I've never started because I never knew where to start. I just hope that the guide will be so easy to follow that even the most graphically-challenged people will be able to make skins.
I think it's awesome that someone has stepped up for the challenge. Thanks!
