Default iNTERLOCKING OBJECTS

IN THE ATTACHED FILE THE TWO OBJECTS ARE ATTACHED USING A MASK. IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE THEM BETTER. THERE IS A BEVEL WHERE THEY INTERLOCK THAT DOESNT LOOK RIGHT.ANY SUGGESTINS AS HOW TO MAKE THEM LOOK SMOOTHER?

Pakmn, make sure that Layer Mask Hides Effects is selected in the advanced blending options
