exactly what happened to me countless of times, I'm almost at the point of giving up with the game.. I'm getting tired with all the analyzing and chopping and changing tactics.. had some brief success with fuss' Minimal_Fuss V3, but went on a terrible run in the 2nd season!
| Im telling you people, there is nothing that works because FM07 has no consistancy in anything, doesnt matter what team u have or the tactic you use its just a cointoss. Only people who have success are those playing solo or playing the super teams in online games.
I spent 2 hours last night with my friend, i read WWFfan's thread then i got my friend to create the 7 tactics (1 for each situation) designed for my team and we managed to scrape a 2-1 win over bottom of the league at home, then lost to a mid table team at home.
Reading all these tactics bible crap isnt going to help you, save yourself the time and play with a default tactic and just hope for the best, ive given up on tactics now, far too much importance go's into it i wil just pray that it gets put back to the style of FM06 (which was balanced greatly imo) for the release of FM08.
Of all versions of FM, FM07 is clearcut the one with the most complaints.

I agree 100% with the ridiculous amount of goals to shots ratio that the cpu teams seem to have compared to my own. Actually, I think that this version of FM is clearly the worst I've ever played and as of now I am going to retire the disc to my bin because I am not going to continually waste my time playing this steaming pile of dog sh!te any longer (despite the fact that I'm doing very well).

The fundamental problem is not what is happening, but how we comprehend it. It is a question of understanding. On the surface it appears quite straight forward... want your wingers to get to the byline, cross it to the head of the big man? Easy - wingers set to 'forward runs often', 'cross from byline' etc. So why do my players not do as I tell them?
How can we, as players, influence the game if we have no idea what we're doing and how to implement the tactics we want? The long and short of it is that we can't. Hence the reason why there are so many people on these forums struggling, and not enjoying the game.

This has me baffled as to whether we're playing the same game!
Sure it happens that you lose a game despite dominating. It also happens that you snatch an unlikely win despite being run ragged throughout. Sometimes you grab a late equalizer, sometimes your opponents do. At times your strikers score from any angle with ease, other times they can't hit a barn door. With good players and tactical acumen however you win more often, but not always.
All those conspiracy theories are just sour grapes.

yeah but not every game you lose or draw. i've never been out played in 23 seasons but every loss or draw is xxx will feel hard done by.
i wouldnt mind if the ai would just play well and beat me or my players have an off day.
but si answer is make a keeper who you cant score past and make you world class keeper play poor all the time and the ai strikers score with every shot they have.

Why would it be sour grapes? I've already said that i'm happy with my progress overall with whatever team i manage.
And yes i've said it does happen in real life, but not as much as in FM 07.
TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU...
It's the goals per chances ratio that this thread is about, OK?
It does occasionally go in your favour but that is more in line with real life, however with your opponents it is out of propotion.
I once lost 9 games in a row with a Conference team and after every one of them it said my opponents struck lucky.
You try to watch the game to find out why your opposition striker scored TWO goals from TWO shots and has a Finishing rating of 4. Your striker has a rating more than double, twice as many chances and yet the oppo G/K plays a blinder!

Never been outplayed in 23 seasons eh? I just hope you do find some enjoyment in the game... 23 seasons!
Anyway, ain't it just natural, if you have a great team and are dominating most games against opponents who sit back and counterattack, the games you do lose, often you "should have won easily".
I play Nottingham Forrest in the EPL now and it's my third season with successive promotions. I have a comparatively weak squad dogged by injuries to key players and spend most games defending, hoping to snatch a goal on the break. Most games I do win I don't "deserve" to.
As for players not always doing what they're instructed, don't you think real manager have that problem too?
ANyways, my pet hatred is defenders "not taking any chances". Especially when they put the ball up in row z when you're chasing a goal late on, or conceding corners from the midcircle.

Oh if I didn't make myself clear, my point is that I haven't noticed any bias against my teams, and for the AI.
Sometimes strikers with 20 in finishing can't score to save their lifes, but that happens to the AI players as well...

It seems to affect me more when i'm the favourite in a match.
For example, in my Liverpool('Mon the Liverpool!! ) game i was in the champions league semi final against barca. After a first leg win at Anfield of 3-1 i went to the Nou Camp and i got overun but my counterattcking worked and won 2-1 with them having 30 shots and me having 2
Then i went to play Watford at home, with my players on great confidence and Watford 19th in the league.Dominated and lost 1-0 to a Marlon King wonderstrike on the 87th minute
Just makes no sense |

I also notice it happens when i'm the favorite, as i said above when i played Southend.
But i think the fault lies more with ourselves than the game itself. Cleon and Co got consistant success because they put a helluva lot into it. With FM 07 you have to constantly watch the match and make alterations accordingly. This is maybe where me and others fail. I just don't have the time nor patience to play the game in full detail, if i did then i would hardly ever get through a season.
I have always played this game 'on the go' picking the team, making a couple of decisions then presing go, do something else then comeback and ditto. Now i know someone is going to say "you get out what you put in" or "it is realistic to watch the game and making changes accordingly" and yes you are right BUT it has to be viable also. Not everyone is able to sit constantly in front of a PC so much. They want to be able get on with other things also, that may not be realism but it is real life.
but of course there are the others who want the full dedication so with one game you can't please all.
SI will continue down the path of full attention required. But they need to think about other people also. I know on here the attitude is "if you can't manage then go play something else". That is a short term answer to a long term problem. I think we all know someone who has played this game for years but have now given up on it. That is not healthy for the future of this game.
The customer is always right even when they are wrong, because they are paying the money - without that there will be no game.
But it's a hard one for SI to call because you can't please everyone.
Skill levels is one solution but SI don't appear to want that option.
