Check out 'Sylvester's, it reads...
TOTTENHAM v PORTSMNOUTH
Shots 23 - 3
On Tar 12 - 2
Off Tar 11 - 1
SCORE 0 - 1
Now come on we can all relate to that huh?
Yes it does happen in real life but no where near as much as in FM 2007 and why is it nearly always in the oppsitions favour?
I was playing a game last night with Sunderland, 5 pts clear at the top of the Championship, playing at home to bottom of the table Southend. I had won 6 games in a row and the bookies had me down at 1/10 to win.
Southend had two shots on target and won the game 2-0.
No amount of patches will fix this because SI refuse to accept that it exsists even though everybody pointed it out in FM 06.

You're implying that the AI cheats. It doesn't (I'm pretty dam sure). How else can people like Cleon win the league almost unbeaten with Sheffield United in the first season. He does it purely because he has awesome tactical knowledge and wins upon this alone. If the AI does cheat, why doesn't it on him?

There's a thread somewhere (probably in tacticsbible) which takes an in depth look into this subject. Have a look for it. WHat it essentially says is that you can have loads of shots o goal but you've got to get quality ones which can score you goals and not just pot shots. (I think that's the jist of it)

The most annoying thing is reading the forums for 30 mins, learn about how everything works, go back on the game take 10 mins to set up your tactics and set it up exactly how you want then go out and get hammered 3-0

it has happened to me so many times

When I play network with one if my mates...he refers to this sort of thing as the FM b*llsh*t

it amuses me when he gets wound up.

I personally thump the desk, monitor, smash my mouse down, hurl an object, the usual

We know what you mean 'Dyl Hero', awile back i spent TWO DAMN DAYS reading wwfan thread, i mean it's so well explained it almost convinces you. Downloaded all the tactics and made notes on which situations to use them, I loaded up a brand new season, went through a full pre season doing everything properly - then come the first game - i lost 8-0 with Sunderland when i was favourites to win!! I was gutted i had just wasted two days!
But i'm not blaming wwfan's tactics it could happen with anyones including my own.

Im sure Cleon has done all those wonderfull things he claims, but like 2 others who im currently playing with who "found the game easy" i bet he would be just as bad as they are in an online game.

This version just has no consistancy in anything

I believe the peripheral factors outside the matchengine have too great an importance in regard to all aspects of FM.

I have stopped responding to the press and no longer answer any questions at all, I have found this to be much more efficient .. at least the morale and efficiency of the squad relies more on the tactics than whatever bull**** I said to the clueless press.

I have won 0-5 away vs Barca and lost the next game at home 0-3 vs Cardiff with the exact same constilation ... the only difference I seemed to notice was a clueless keeper between the posts in Camp Nou and a "god" saving Cardiff .. while it was their turn to convert all of their chances .. making my keeper look like a retired hippie.

After 10 seasons of FM 07 I am still clueless about the tactics in FM, things I can get 12 year old boys to do ... which pros wont do in FM.

1. Clear the ball to safety and not heading it behind to a corner when near the midfield.

2. Stay behind on cornerkicks (many dont seem to understand the "stay behind" option)

3. The amount of rebounds my keeper serves to the opponents goes into the guiness book of records.

4. My fullback running away from the ball .. the winger runs it up with no challenge .. crosses and ... goal.

... but the AI suffers from the same, it doesnt treat us any differently.

People say its up to tactics, my fullback is set to specifically tightmark the winger and ultradefensive mentality and no creativity .. why is he running away like the ball was made of hot coal? .. sorry, but I dont understand this tactical "incident"... and FM07 produces lots of these.

It is possible to achieve the same effictivity as the AI, it is possible to nearly eradicate the AI in every match .. but this takes time .. depending on the quality of your squad. I have done it last year with Tottenham getting 2-1 wins almost every game regardless of opponents.

Lastly it is important to remember that a good squad doesnt make a winning squad, but ... yes, there are a bit too many "freak" situations in every single game, especially huge defensive mistakes .. both by the AI and human teams.

When you do find the right tactic FM 07 works brilliantly, it might not mean that you win every game .. just that things seem much more realistic.

Anyway, the challenge is there .. perhaps as I have stated a few times before .. look more at it as a chess game.

Danielsan2000: I'm not really complaining about the game being to hard, my complaint is...
When you create 9 or 10 chances and your opponents only 2 or 3 and yet they ALWAYS score.
I read above that 'moggydave' said to look in the Tactics Bible thread. But that is missing the point.
So to try and clarify myself... using the Conference North for example. Two teams playing each, doesn't matter who. Team 8 creates 9 chances 5 On Target - Team B creates 3 chances 1 On Target and the match finishes 1-1.
Now does that mean Team B has a superior Finisher?
Answer: No, the quality of players in this division is very similar to each other.
So did Team B just hit lucky today?
Answer: In real life football yes, in FM 07 no, it happens to often to be luck.
Now the Tactics Bible claims its all about the sort of chances your creating but i disagree. As with the Tottenham example above they created 23 chances, ok so 11 of them were off target, but 12 (TWELVE) chances on target and no goals???
This is why i believe a lot of people struggle with FM 07 because i've read these threads and there are loads of people trying strong defence. But how can you do that when you limit your opponents to 2 or 3 chances but they are almost certain to score with any of them?
Now as for Cleon, yes he has done it and well done to him and it's because he has adapted to how he understands the game.
I remember i read one of his comments saying it was not a problem to score goals if you didn't create to many chances. Where is the sense in that?
Yes that is true in Fm 2007 because i have noticed whenever i have scored 5 goals in a game it was always when i created about 7 chances.
But surely that is wrong? It should be that the more chances you create in a game the better.

exactly what happened to me countless of times, I'm almost at the point of giving up with the game.. I'm getting tired with all the analyzing and chopping and changing tactics.. had some brief success with fuss' Minimal_Fuss V3, but went on a terrible run in the 2nd season!
