Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Playing the offside trap

When is the best time to employ the offside trap.

I have been experimenting with it over the last 20 something games and success of the tactic has been erratic at best.

If anybody can spare some wisdom on the matter I would be very interested in hearing as I am clean out of ideas!

I find playing the offsides trap all the time allows your team to get in front of the opposition strikers more, so we gain more possession and they have less chances, espically from crosses which usually ruin any tactic. This will leak a goal from time to time if someone sends a brilliant through ball, but normally this should work. Try it out and let me know how it works for you.

I would only ever use it if my defenders are a lot quicker than the opposition's forwards and attacking midfielders, so can make up for if it doesn't work

OR

if my defenders had high anticipation and decisions.
