I think it's because many newcomers think that LLM is about making the game as hard as possible to play, rather than as realistic as possible.

I disagree. A club like, let's say, Erzgebirge Aue (Bavaria, Germany) would have a hard time attracting people away from Hamburg ('Preussen', Germany. 900km more north), not to mention the fact that a scout from Aue would hardly impress his club by investigating clubs that far away in the first place.

This is not about 'harder', but about 'more realistic'.

It's about making the game as realistic and playable within the confines of what you have available in the game.

It doesn't really matter in britain or most other european countries, but, yeah, i guess in somewhere like brazil or russia it would make a big differance. I can't see many Vladivostock scouts staking out training grounds in murmansk

i also am playing in finland and get a heap of scout reports from the lower league team in the same city that my team is from. So scouting Finland as apposed to certain teams isn't as unrealistic as you think DJ. I think the scouts have a soft spot for this team, or are too lazy to travel any further then down the street from their local pub to find players. At least 1 of them is actually playing good since i bought him.

I have no qualms with my scouts looking for fresh meat in the same city, I find it less realistic that my scouts would recommend me players from 1000 km away, just because their teams happen to be in the same country. I would like it very much if I could scout in my region instead of the entire country. In Holland, it's not stretching the imagination to think a team from Fryslan would be able to find a player in Zeeland (250 km apart), but in Germany or France it is, IMHO.

It depends on the clubs' policy and the country tradition I supose.

Here, it's normal to see players moving from one club to another in the very same group (e.g. Players staying their whole career in the 2nd Division B Group IV).

There are usually 4 or 5 transfers a year from one group to another (but those take mainly place between teams who are quite near geographically, even if they are in different groups).

You also get the odd inter-divisional transfer (from 3rd to 2nd B or some ageing or too young player from 2nd to 2nd B).
