Don't expect any heroic Conference S/N teams to Euro glory stories, I have always started at the bottom since the ancient Amiga/Spectrum etc days when there was no other choice

Conference South 2004/05 Season 1

Joined Bishop's Stortford as it is fairly local to where I was born
Target - avoid relegation
Transfer budget £0
Wage budget £2,600 / week
Pre-patch CPU temperature 47C

Basically a testing season for me, see how the game goes, didn't expect a lucky start!

Hired 2 scouts, and asst manager and off I went, we promptly romped to the top spot by Xmas which was then followed by only gaining 10 points from the next 42, however 10 consecutive victories right at the end lead me to finish comfortably in 3rd place.

Late season winning streak came to an abrupt end when I lost 4-0 on aggregate to Newport Co in the play-off semis

Conference South - 3rd P42 W24 D4 L14 F84 A56 Pts 76
FA Trophy 3rd Round home defeat to York
FA Cup 2nd Round proper home defeat to Chesterfield
Average Attendence - 1620

Conference South 2005/06 Season 2

Target - respectable league position
Transfer budget £14,000
Wage budget £2,700 / week

This year I had a clear-out, 6 players out for 120K total, 1 player in, 2 loanees in, but knew something was wrong pre-season when I couldn't even beat my own greyed-out U18s, stumbled along all season, could not get a winning streak together and finished in a poor 11th, who said this game was easy?

Conference South - 11th P42 W14 D12 L16 F64 A57 Pts 54
FA Cup 4th Qual lost 5-4 Billericay
FA Trophy 2nd Round lost 3-0 Kingstonian
Average attendance 423

Conference South 2006/07 Season 3

I jump ship, but not to better things, my birthtown surprisingly arrives in the Conference South, without a manager and want me, I move to Braintree Town, Cressing Road Stadium capacity 4000? (yeah right - more like Cressing Road field, tiny brick stand)

Target - avoid relegation
Transfer budget - £0
Wage budget - £3400 / week but I run it at £3000
Initial balance £40k

First things first, get rid of alot of overpaid fluff, 19 players go out during the season for £110k, 13 freebies come in, my Bishop's Stortford scouted players list moved with me , 3 long-term local loanees including a super AMC and what turned out to be a decent young finishing striker

I was easily the form team this season, and probably the best between October and April but then my loanees got long-term injuries and I threw the title away in the last 6 or so games. And so to the play-offs again as 2nd place, alas, I lose 2-0 at home, won 1-0 away, once more play-off disappointment

Conference South - 2nd P42 W23 D11 L8 F85 A46 Pts 80
FA Cup 3rd Qual lose 1-2 home to Havant & Waterlooville
FA Trophy 4th Round lose 1-3 to Newport County
Average attendance 805

silly o'clock is the only time to escape from the missus

Conference South 2007/08 Season 4 Braintree Town

Target - respectable position
Transfer budget - £50k
Wage budget - £2700 / week

5 frees in, 5 for 75k out, 4 loanees in

Basically flashes of brilliance sandwiched by flashes of mediocrasy, scouts were carp this year, loanees were carp and the football wasn't flowing, my ability to handle pressure is still rated 10 despite the fact I lost for the third time heavily in the play-offs, I had no chance of the title, runaway leaders Dorchester clinched it in early March

Conference South - 3rd P42 W22 D6 L14 F70 A54 Pts 72
FA Cup 2rd Qual lose 2-0 away to Chesham
FA Trophy 2nd Round lose 0-1 at home to Matlock
Average attendance 672

For the local team followers Chelmsford City made a brief appearance this year in the Conference South

next update won't be til after the patch, although I didn't experience this problem ina big way in the first 4 seasons, somehow my entire attacking staff this season seem to be competing with each other for the world championship diving award (must be something in their stats), even the subs have started to hold up placards reading 9.2, 9.4, etc
