ive taken the job as manager of my local side vauxhall motors in the FCN. transfer funds were nill and the players i had were poor. i imediatly placed an advert in the chester evening standard for a scout and a coach.
i sent my only scout out to wales for a week then to ireland for a week, the results were poor and i decided to gve him a month scouring the entire uk and ireland for free transfers that i may be able to bring to ellesmere port.
i decided it was time to have a look at my formation and then also decided that id try a simple tactic to start with.
to cut to the chase i ended up winning my first game against local rivals runcorn fc halton and then going on a dreadfull run where i couldnt win for love nor money.
i was staring relegation in the face untill i took a young striker from a top club on loan in january. he had an imediate impact scoring goals all over the area and this was rubbing off on my other strikers who also started to find the net. we were climing out of the hole we were in and with two games to go we were set to play the team fourth from bottom with us being third from bottom and 2 points behind them. it was win or bust for vauxhall motors.
we had good form in our favour as we had not lost in 6 getting three wins in that time one a lucky 2-1 win over top of the table nuneaton. this seemed to be good enough as we beat them convincingly 4 - 0 with my onloan striker scoring his hatrick. i was over the moon and we went on to draw our last game 1 - 1 when luckily the team third from bottom lost again. we had survived against all the odds.
its the second season and ive still no funds and im £100,000 in debt, ive now got 3 half decent scouts tho and i regularly send them out around the world. ive got my eye on a 24 year old african midfielder but his club want 2k for him which i cant afford at the moment but ive got some intrest in my players now, i may have to sell up one of my best players.
ive managed to get the same striker onloan again this season for the whole season which has been a big boost to my squad. ive also taken on some more loans from some league 1 teams. confidence is high.
result, ive sold a player for 5k and signed the african midfielder for 2. its hopefully a landmark day for vauxhall motors.
we start the season well and i find myself in chance of a play off place with 10 games to. ive had numerous managerial offers from league clubs including wrexham, mk dons, chesterfield and torquay. i decide to stay with the motormen untill the end of the season because im enjoying success and i want to take them up, i decide that ill move on next season to a league club.
im now making money with attendences maxed out for all home games because of our success, if im to leave vauxhall motors i want to leavue them in a better state than when i took over, i believe ive established them as a FCN team now and relegation shouldnt be a problem.
play offs, i reached them with two games to spare and im in the final.i pledge my future to the motormen for another year if we go up.
we find ourselves 1 - 0 up with 25 minutes left to play then disaster strikes and northwich score, i stay calm and decide to quicken the pace a bit, penalty, 5 minutes left and the ref gives us a penalty. a dubious decision aparantly. i dont care, we going up to the conference proper. my onlone striker steps up, puts it right, keeper guesses right, hes saved it, im laughing out of shock and close to tears. the match goes to extra time. the first half of extra time passes uneventfully, the second half couldnt be more of a contrast, northwich miss a penalty, we hit the bar, twice. with 5 minutes till penalties northwich score, its over, this could be my last game in charge of vauxhall motors but i will leave them in good stead.
LLM is great, i cant believe what ive been missing out on, but its time to climb up a few leagues to the football league i think. but i want to stay in the north west, maybe chester or tranmere.
