I have been reading the LLM forums a lot during this week and am really looking forward to giving it a try when I get home at the weekend.
There is one thing I have noticed to be quite a talking point which is the "Grey" area of whether use of the transfer search to look for unattached players is allowable.
I do not have an opinion on whether it should or shouldn't yet, but on the road home from the pub last night I was thinking about it and came up with the following thoughts:
1. The transfer screen, someone pointed out that the PFA have a website listing all unattached players (I was not aware of this but bow to the knowledge of the better informed), to me this would seem to indicate that using the transfer screen to identify players to scout may be ok.
2. The rule forbidding the naming of good "finds". I can understand why this is there as it makes perfect sense, however in my drunken state I came up with a reason for it to be allowed which I will try to explain.
In real life, if you were managing a LL team you would be able to go and watch games, you would also hear of good players in the press and from your friends (none of which are available in game).
This brought me to thinking about the player stats that show on the search. If you are a real life LLM then you would know as much about the players in your league as we all do about top division superstars because it would be your job to know these things so you would have a good idea about their different attributes anyway.
Regarding tactics, you would be actively watching other games and if you seen people using a certain formation that seemed to work you might be inclined to try a variation yourself.
Before you start flaming, let me say that I am "NOT" saying that these thoughts are correct. Constructive comments would be appreciated.
On another point I appologise in advance if my comments offend any of the diehards
@UELL Fan - Nice that you make interested people so welcome. Would make a change for people to be made welcome on the LLM board. Maybe then there'd be more interest in the online games as well...

Did you actually read the full post.
OK I have mentioned some things that have been mentioned before, but I think I have mentioned some points that may have been missed.
I will be playing by the hardline LLM rules, I was just trying to point out that by playing strictly to the LLM rules, you are actually at a disadvantage when compared to a real life manager.

Seeing the fact some newbie comes along every other week making the same point on this subject and thinking they know better, under the circumstances Jordi was pretty restrained.
I fail to see the point of starting yet another thread on this subject. We have guidelines. We have a few rules. Follow the guidelines as you see fit. But we ain't going over this topic again. I hope.
Once you've been around a bit longer then maybe you'll understand why Jordi may appear, at first, to be a tad negative when confronted by yet another thread like this.
LLM is played as close to realistic as possible. As realistic as the confines of the game allow. The Rules of the Forum won't be changed (the ones actually stated at the top), they're here to stay.
The Guidelines are a bit more flexible, but basically as they stand is the accepted way to play...by the "diehards" if you like.
Any alteration to these is your own choice, but any and all alteration is seen as a way to make the game easier for the guys who alters it.
Realism isn't easy, just as it isn't realistic to make the game difficult.
It's taken years, not a whim, to formulate those guidelines and the portray a very accurate picture of how to play the game realistically. Many people were involved, many who have come, stayed a while, then gone...more who are still here.
Without exception the guys who come in and bleat about the rules and guidelines either disappear, or learn that LLM is played in the way portrayed in the Header and Guideline thread and become valuable members of the LLM Community.
I hope you guys stay.
If you do it won't be long before you're getting hyper-pĂ*ssed at guys coming in and posting threads and comments like you guys.
I have a similar view on LLM as yourself.I also support Englandspor.I am reluctant to post views, suggestions etc anymore, because of some of the comments passed by the readers. There is ,surely,no need to post sarcastic or,sometimes, unpleasant replies. Surely everyone should be trying to assist others who may not be pc literate (like myself)or are unsure about some aspects of the game.Kindest of Christmas regards to all FM2005 managers.
Forgive Jordi's attitude, years of Spanish oppression can make him a little tetchy.
Point 1 is, as you say, a grey area. I will use the transfer screen on occasion, but would advise using the Ass Man filter. If you are looking for unattached players I would trial, not scout (how do you scout someone who isn't playing?)- this acts as a further filter, as some will refuse a trial.
Never use the find screen.
Point 2
quote:
In real life, if you were managing a LL team you would be able to go and watch games, you would also hear of good players in the press and from your friends (none of which are available in game).

I have to complete refute that.
Have you ever clicked the "v" on a fixtures screen? - this allows you to watch a game. Try and be realistic, don't watch two concurrent games, or a game at the same time as one of yours.
There are numerous bits of info from the press in the game, as well as tables which show who is in form in the various divisions. Managers will also praise players etc.

I have to disagree. Does Arsene Wenger really know all about West Brom's new right back? I doubt it. That's another job for scouts.

You have access to all the default formations in the game, plus any variations the computer may come up with against you. You don't see the minute instructions, of course, but this is only right. Would Arsene suggest to Fergie a way to get his back line functioning more effectively?
