Sarcasm is like a second language, as i've been told, and found out.

I think it's fair to say that most "new" people to the LLM forum treat it the wrong way. I think that this forum is viewed by new users (to this forum) as a forum to discuss everything to do with teams, players etc etc. Where as, he real terms, it's a way of playing the game. People air opinions on certain aspects where the game, things that should be improved, what poor unnamed players they have in their team etc etc, but never to discuss tactics, which players to buy.

If everyone reads the rules and plays the game the way they see fit, then nobody can really have any gripes. It's a bit like anything in life - there are rules for everything, you might not agree with them, but it's not very likely they will change either.

Play the game as you see fit and enjoy the ways of a Llmaa. Or not if you take over the reigns at Moor Green I won't tell you what I've asked Santa for christmas (5 defenders and an SC for £200 - I have honestly been a good boy this year).

I disagree that the window analogy is wonderful.

Your window is your private property. By tapping they are intruding on your peace without your say. On the other hand this is an open forum. You are free to skip any thread that seems to deal with a topic you do not want to read about or discuss. It will not be forced on you.

I think that these threads on the rules and guidelines of LLM are good. Some people might accept a given set of rules as a challenge but to really take them to heart one has to work through the reasons behind them.

Lets face it the rules are rather arbitrary and do contain some gray areas. The long time LLMers might feel that these areas have been hashed out but even after reading a rules thread the newcomers are going to have questions and possibly objections. If the rules are really there to define a realistic style of play I think the LLM community needs to keep discussing them and listening to new objections and ideas. Its taken something like 5 years to get to this point; is there any reason to assume that we have it right now even though we had it wrong (or at least incomplete) at some point in the past?

If you find a grey area that can be further definded then sure let's discuss it. However, there is nothing grey about the areas initially questioned in the initial post. They are as someone likes to say as grey as an elephants ass.

My mum lives in a rented house, so her window isn't her private property. It belongs to the council

Let's get one thing straight from the outset.

The Rules of the Forum are here to stay and won't be changed. That's a fact, and if you have problems with them then I suggest you're in the wrong place.

The Guidelines, on the other hand, are here to guide newcomers on the ways of LLM. They harbour various shades of grey and that's for the good.

If you take the time to read threads by regulars, particularly updates, you'll see there are many ways to play LLM, each and every one that doesn't break the basic rules of the Forum is embraced by other LLaMas.

Zealots are different. We have specific rules that we apply to our games and there's little room for manoeuvre.

I'm happy to take this time to discuss the gray areas you speak of, though.
