Ah, you're a Missionary.
I'm in a similar situation with a friend of mine, who has only recently been a convert. Recently as in FM 2005. He's never played any other incarnation but has head me blather on about CM/FM for far too long and wanted to know if I was a jibbering idiot or not.
He should have just asked me.
Anyway, we're both Newcastle Utd fans, so I suggested he start with them (bear with me, fellow LLMers) so that he could get to grips with the interface, the way the game works, how to pick players and all that rubbish.
He was sacked after four months.
Not to worry though, I suggested he started again and pointed out a couple of glaring errors, like playing an SC in the AMC position, pre-patch and he lasted for 8 months, which was an achievement.
Now what I suggested to him was that to see the difference between the levels of footbal played, he went to League 2 in England and he chose Darlington, as they're (sort of) North-East England. He moticed the difference straight away, of course and he seems to be quite happily plodding along in and around mid-table in his second season. I've told him to just go where he feels comfortable, but did suggest going somewhere completely random, with the help of Frank for his next game.
In summary, if you're converting, don't go all the way down to the depths, make it gradual.
*caveat*
The above is what I have done and may not mean the other regulars in here approve of it. Frankly, I don't care as most of them are pooves, especially Kostis.
