there are rarely penalties awarded to other sides, but at other times that's not the case.

when I was barca manager i got about ten penalties in one league season. thierry missed about 4 but still won the golden boot

penalty "droughts" happen IRL, notably in the 06 world cup. though that was probably because fifa bullied the referees

im now on my third season and i have NEVER! been awarded a penalty not in the fa cup league cup premiership or the champions league

Definitely not as much as FM2007, which had it almost perfect IMO. On my 3rd season with Man United, i think i only get 1-2 penalties per season, can't remember if I had any called on me either.

The difference between penalties in real life, and penalties in FM is; in real life you expect the team to score, in FM you expect them to miss.

I have players always saying "Player x feels that had to be a penalty" even when his own team mate has just took a goal kick or something
