I'm just saying you win more games when the assistant gives a team talk. Even when he says things like "I expect a win", which every time I say it means the team will lose no matter what.

Yeah you could be right.

The main reason why I find it easier with the assistant is that they seem to know which buttons to press for each player. I tended to give the same message to all the players as I didn't want to single people out. However, the ass man (if he has good stats) seems to get it right most times.

I just finished my 5th match since coming back home, and in all of games, for all team talks, and for all players I have only had Nothing specific noted". Even when I told them they were awful despite dominating (because they had 30 shots and only 2 goals), I got no reaction.

To use a common text messaging style comment - WTF!

Spot on, I've wanted to do this so often!

For future versions there should be a little cartoon picture of yourself in the dugout that you can adjust its state of agitation - nice and calm when alls going well changing to red in the face about to head explode when you cant take the frustration anymore.

To be honest I've always thought Teamtalks are a waste of time. The same generic ones every time, and the same response generally.

Team talks should reflect tactical decisions, such as 'Keep it tight first 20 minutes'. The 'do it for the fans' wouldn't really inspire myself.

To be fair, it was a nice idea, but really, I would be glad to see them go, especially as even if you get the assistant to do them now, the screen still appears, and then I can see the rubbish my assistant is coming out with and I feel the need to change them.

Either bin them, or return it to FM07 where if i select the assistant to do them, they go away.

First season: saying you can win this or wish them luck = positive results.
Second season: (same team with 2 additions)the exact opposite.
Third season: (I was finding that despite outplaying other teams i was often 1 goal down at half time)Using the I expect you to play better talk lead to my team playing really badly in the second half(poor passing,creating few/no chances,randomly not marking runners), this was pretty close to a definitive way to guarantee a loss, the assmans observation (for all players) : nothing specific noted. So either the assman is useless OR my team just happens to be awful in the second half(I remember a while back England were useless in the first half and good in the second half of games {in real life} for about a year).

I stopped using them quicker than anything else I remember.
I'm not a fan of much of the interaction be it team talks media or the dreaded board.

As spontaneous conversation in the game is several light years away they need to build a huge library of text strings to make it more interesting.

A problem there is that most of these things do have effects in the game, even if like team talks most of us can't for the life of us pick the right one.
That makes it a far bigger job then just thinking up a host of suitable phrases.
