Every other day I'm getting messages from my assistant manager telling me that SO AND SO is getting disillusioned with life at Portman road as he is in the reserves.

Okay, fine, he's past it and sitting out his contract there.

How do I tell him this so that I stop getting these notifications?

In theory as he is playing at portman road he would expect to be in the 1st team mainly because Ipswich arent very good lol.

In all seriousness i dont think you can tell them that just stick him on the transfer list and leave him in the reserves, should be ok then.

Offer him mutual termination. Offer him to clubs for free transfer. If all else fails, put an end to the annoyance be releasing him on a free, even if the cost is significant.

let him play in first team, and/or buy other player from his counrty .....

if this wont work 4 u, u can release him on a free, same cost like let him sitting out his contract, but maybe this step is not to good for the team morale, so u should prefer to loan him out (theirfore a feeder club would be great) and after a seson with match practice u may get a offer from another club for him.

Transfer list him that should send a message that you don't really care if he is feeling bad for not playing.
