Also posted this in another forum, but thought it best to post here too...
Right... I'm still confused about player's reactions to my & other manager's statements in the press.
Just beat Portsmouth 3-1 in my first home game in the Prem, 2nd season having got QPR promoted from the Championship in the first, so obviously I am big relegation candidates. Drew the first 2 games despite being really out played. Both were away, to West Ham & Blackburn. This time I outplayed Pompey and I deservedly won the game.
After the game Redknapp says to the press that he has a lot of time for me and that he tinks I have the ability to save QPR from relegation.
So to be nice back, I say that he shouldn't be disheartened by the defeat and Redknapp can steer his side to success.
A large number of my players then have the 'PR' icon, and they're all one of three comments.
1 - In the wake of Redknapp's comment he believes QPR will avoid the drop without too much effort.
2 - Isn't convinced his manager should be praising other teams.
3 - Glad to see his manager divert attention towards another club.
Those are paraphrased slightly of course, I'm not typing out the full exact text.
My issue really is, what the hell does that mean? What should I be able to learn about my players from those comments? How will it affect them?
