I don't know if this the right forum, but here we go.

When i try to turn off the full screen mode, it doesn't and my computer tells me to do something with settings. Can anybody help, so i play my game but not on full screen

I have the same problem.

I'm able to put my resolution at 1280x800, and the manual says that it should be able to run in windowed mode at 1024x768, but still no luck.

What resolution are you running when launching the game? If it's 1024x768, or a wide screen with nearly the same vertical resolution, this is probably your problem.

No, the manual says that the minimum required resolution is 1024x768. It should also say (but may not, I'm not sure) that at 1024x768 it cannot run in windowed mode, because to run in windowed mode at that resolution there is not 1024x768 available to the game as the Windows taskbar and the window borders take up some space.

Also of note is the fact that while 1024x768 is the minimum resolution, this counts for both the horizontal and vertical resolution - in other words even 1280x768 still won't run in windowed mode as there is not enough vertical space in windowed mode. It is possible that 1280x800 also does not give it enough vertical space to run in windowed mode.

Please read the command line options article on SIbase about --windowed and --small_screen. The latter lets you force it into windowed mode for resolutions that won't normally allow it. It isn't supported, but generally works ok.
