I see no harm in a successful 442 even if the midfielders score little
If you want your wingers to score, keep them from crossing a lot and dribble more, so they can pull in and score sensational goals of the month, by outplaying half the other team.
the central midfielders.... a defensive one should only have long shots on if he's got appropriate stats, but that works really well. Smae applies for the offensive one, who should also have forward runs on, to be right in there with the strikers.
