Let me just try and re-phrase the corner routine a bit more so people know what people to look for -
Corner Taker - Obviously your best corner taker goes here, obviously decisions and technique come into it as well but corner taking is deffo number 1.
Near Post Flick On - Obviously your best arial threat goes here.
Challenge Keeper - Strongest player, if you've got a good solid target man then he does well here to block the keeper.
Stand On Far Post - Another strong tall defender could go here just in case the header get's flicked on or hit too long.
Attack Far Post - I just had Alonso running for this, someone with good heading and anticipation for this role. Sissoko did this well for me when he did play.
Lurk Outside Area - Best long range shooter, I had Gerrard, say no more.
Offer Short Option - I just used the opposite winger but if you have a fullback with better crossing then maybe use him instead.
After that I left one player forward, preferably a fox in the box and then 1 player back and the other stay back if needed.

That's basically how I set my corners up, particularly from the right as my best corner takers are right footed. I set it to aim for near post and its very effective, particularly as I have a new corner taker (he scored direct from a corner last night, in off the near post!). It works best if it is an inswinger rather than an outswinger generally...
I don't have a good left footed corner taker at the moment so I mix my left sided corners up a bit, generally short option although I conceded after being hit on the break from one such corner

Beat me to it. I was going to add that it depends on which way you taker swings (so to speak).
I play as Arsenal), only cause I support them and think I can do it better). My two corner takers are either Rosicky or Van Perie both of whom are better on their right foot. This should result in corners from the left out swinging ie from byline to penalty spot and corners from the right inswinging from 6 yard box to far post.
My instructions would be:-
Lehman - Default
Eboue - Stay Back
Gallas - Attack Far
Toure - Stand on Far
Clichy - Stay Back
Hleb - Short Option
Gilberto - Attack Near
Fabregas - Challenge GK
Rosicky - Challenge GK
Bedtnar - Near Post Flick
Henry - Outside Area
Corners from Left - Near post
Corners from Right - Far post
I get good results considering it is Arsenal and suprisingly it is Gilberto that gets most.
One more thing to take into account is set piece training!
