It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Lost the same game 6 times in a row

I'm against Blackburn away in 2015, they're 5th and I'm top with 13 pts on my nearest rival. Have conceded just 7 in 22 games and scored 47. I'm using a normal 4-4-2 for the match. They're using 4-4-1-1.

Now, it's a wet day and they play possession football and keep it short. They've got a creative midfield and Ben Sahar up front by himself so I played a d-line of 4. I went narrow, direct, quick and closed down their midfielders leaving a man on Sahar at all times. My mentality was attacking, with only defenders and a CM with def duties. Used target man.

I lost 3-0.

It was such a poor performance (in relation to my season so far) I decided to see what went wrong . No cheating, I saved the game after losing! I just couldn't understand how I played so poorly. My players gave away every ball and was dispossessed in attack all the time.

So, the Replay

I played narrow and deep again but this time I didn't close down. My mentality was attacking, but the wingers were man marking and tracking back. Used target man.

Lost 2-0

3rd Replay

Played narrow once again, very deep but used a normal tempo and only played on the counter and wingers again had def duties. Target man was running onto ball becuase in the prior games he was outmuscled constantly.

Lost 1-0

4th Replay

Same as above, but this time played wide and slightly faster as I was getting caught in possession alot. My mentality was very defensive. No target man.

Lost 3-0

5th and Final Replay

I played very attacking, no target man and wide. Direct and quick. Had someone marking Sahar as in every game.

I lost 2-0 against 10 men for entire second half.

What's going wrong? I tried all the combinations I can think of but I'm being demolished every single time. I can't be bothered to try again, I'll just get on with the game but someone put my mind to rest. What would it have taken to beat them?

By the way, they dumped me out of the FA Cup 0-2 at Upton Park a couple of days later so it's really 7 defats in a row.

Sorry, second replay was 1-0. I played the opposite of the first game that time.

you no what, ive read a lot about this, about people replaying a game but if you save the game the day before a game theres no a lot of different ways you can prepare in the built up to a game, talking to the press etc..

and the media side of the games plays a big part to not just tactics.

I am sure that your tactics have worked for you because your top of the league but I would say that you are playing too deep and maybe too narrow with a direct and quick style.

Personally i'd start wide, quick, direct (say all around 15). Most importantly mentality normal or defensive, about 7-10. Creative freedom, closing down, time wasting all normal. you said your target man was getting marked out so either untick target man or switch him over to the other side if that defender has low heading/jumping. I'd definately start with counter attack ticked.

You dont mention how the goals are scored against you but if they are from crosses than i suggest reducing forward runs on your fullbacks to rarely or placing backward arrows on them. Alternatively if you midfield is overrun, remove any forward arrows you may have.

If you are still overrun and cant create chances then move all your sliders to normal and start working from there. Make sure you watch these matches on full so you can see what's going on.

Just my two cents,
Good luck

Some games have a random seed that is set turn by turn so that replaying the same thing over and over will give similar results.

Civ 4 is like that, and you cannot play the same turn over and over as the result in battles will always have the same outcome.

FM is slightly different in that there would still be a lot of different options to set and possibly change the outcome, but I wonder if it still has a set seed that is making it more difficult for you to actually win that particular game. I really don't know if it works like that or not.

No it hasn't.

What passing did you use? was it short by any chance?

The goals scored were all different. The most common was Sahar scoring on the rebound, but there were a few from crosses aswell as penalties and freekicks. I should have taken some screenshots of the stats from each match. I've deleted that game now and am getting on with the season trying to get out of the slump it left me in. I'll slaughter the bumbags next season if I can sort out what went wrong!

My line-up was very stong and I was sitting on top performing better than I have in 6 seasons. My tactic was one I've worked on for the last 2 years and with 4-0, 3-0, 3-1 and 2-0 wins this seaon over Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool respectively I thought I was going into the game with a strong chance.

The thing is I watch 80% of my matches in full and at normal speed, and usually go through about 3 variations of my tactic during one game. In each Blackburn game I tried all the possible variations I could think of so altogther went through around 18 tacitcs! this is why I'm so stumped.

My formation:

R Zieler

R Blackwell - A Ferdinand - J Tomkins - J Morris (r)

C Fuller (r) - C Evans - D Hillerby - F Binacarelli (r)

M Gomez (r) - D Galbraith

I doubt you could get anything from that as these players probably developed differently for you. The main thing about that line-up is each player has high physical values and apart from the 2 CM's every player is extremily quick for their position. It's young so exhaustion could be a possible explaination but I'm not convinced.

I tried this a while ago.
With Sunderland top of the League they came up against a team 'near the bottom' and lost 0-2.
So i tried 'replaying' the game to try to learn why i lost. In real life if this fixture was played 10 times i would guess that the favourites would win maybe 6 times drawn two and losing twice.
But in this game despite tweaking each game i noticed the outcome (ie - result W L or D) was the same.
I think you could reply that game 10 times and it would show at least 6 loses. I'm not saying that the AI is cheating because if you did the same when you won a game if would probably have a similar outcome.
But my point is if you did replay that game 10 times then the result should reflect real life.
I know people say what happens during a game is similar to throwing a dice any any number can then throw different situations to the outcome of that match.
So why does test re3ults not reflect that?
