When it comes to a players passing instruction, if a player has 5 for passing is it best to put them on direct passing or short? Thanks

this game is a bit weird about cuz in real life if player would be a poor passer u would say to him to pass the ball to nearest player.

allthough defenders with poor passing should be giveng long direct passing atleast to put the ball as far away from the goal as possible.

it also depends on the tactic u use...

also AMC abd strikers should be given short passing (well there arent many mids with 5 for passing lol)

if u have a defender in ur mind give him long passing(its also good for counterattacks)

I would say direct, if you want o play a short passing game you need players with 15+ in mdifield good teams who play a short passing game always have players in most positions who have a good first touch and can pass the ball well eg man utd, arsenal.
