Signing Player's Who's Contract's Run Out?? HELP!

As the title says, ive been playing FM for a while and i still dont know how to snap up players on free's at end of season!

When i play FM at end of every season all the clubs get good players on free transfers but i cant seem to! how do you do this? i try offering nothing for the players but gets regected and there isnt the tab what says offer contract but still other clubs get them on free's??

Any help appreciated thanks

if you are tring to buy an english placed player then you can offer a contract only 4 weeks before it ends...does that help??????

At the start of the Jan transfer window go to player search-filters-contract status-expiring and you will get a list of players who when you click on them you will be able to approach to sign them. Players based in your country though you can only sign a month before their contract runs out instead of 6 months
