I'm in January 2011 with Benfica and my current squad is as follows:

AMR - Simao / Paulo Esteves (PA 193 - wonderkid from my youth system)
FC - Pazzini / Alex Frei

Firstly - can you make any recommendations for improving my team? Bear in mind I can't attract the worlds best...
The issue I'm having is that Porto and Braga win almost every single game, and yet I slip up for no apparent reason against poor teams - even though my players never get poor ratings and are generally all averaging around 7.40 a season. At this stage in the season I'm 6 points behind both teams and they've only lost to me!
I've tried numerous tactics - ones I've won with previously at both Fiorentina and Roma but can't seem to bring out any consistency from performances. Can you recommend any tactics that would suit my team?
One thing thats not a problem are the big matches - I always do well in Europe and can accept getting beaten by Barcelona occasionally. Last season I was a Champions League semi finalist (losing to Chelsea on away goals), and in 2009 I won the UEFA Cup.
