I noticed something interesting whilst playing over the holiday period.
I started a new game in the conference north and, as I normally do, I arranged weekly freindlies for my reserve team to play the U-18's, home and away. I checked occsionally to see if any of the few reserve players I had were doing well.
The interesting fact was that the vast majority of home games were won by my reserves but they lost most of the away games. Odd this considering they played at the same place all the time.
There is obviously a bias for the team considered to be at home. I wonder how much difference this makes for games played at neutral grounds?
I've noticed that sometimes though reserve matches are played at a differnt ground. I guess that is something you looked at, but for some teams that may be a possablilty

I never said I had them , Have lots of greys though, who one day may make in top flight football
I have increased my squad size, sending my scout out to look for potential, so I now have 4 young (U-18) players in my reserve team as well as my first team squad of 18 or so.
I like to give them actual playing time which is why I organise the friendlies.
You have to watch those grays, they upset your regulars, they eat your food, they take your wages, they take your jobs and when you're not looking they take your wife.
