KUTGW, I love these world tour threads! Quite entertaining. Did you pick up any colorful Italian phrases in the few weeks you spent at Pescara?

I think colourful phrases can be used in any language... You ever watch the Italian Footy on EuroSport? I don't speak Italian but I understand every word those managers are shouting..

After bringing in yet another former Peterhead player, this time a younger defender, as well as three tough central midfielders and one more attacker, Rotherham were ready to make their mark on the the Second Division.
The board was asking for a respectable position, as were the supporters.
A slow start saw us sitting at 3-2-2, sitting in midtable, before the Merry Millers caught fire. A 4-2 win at Rushden after being down 2-0 early started a 7 match win streak which included a massive 6-0 win. We ended up going all the way to New Year's Day before we lost again, this time at newly relegated Blackburn. That loss didn't phase the Merry Millers, though, and we managed to avoid defeat the rest of the way, where we managed a 7-0 win over Crewe to clinch a playoff spot, then in our final match a 6-0 win over 3rd placed Hull proved exactly how dominant we were over the course of the season. A record of 31-12-3 gave us 105 points, a record for the club. With 103 goals scored and just 30 conceded, we were a force to be reckoned with. Closest challengers Blackpool ended up on 88 points, joining us in the promotion spots along with Lincoln, who finished 4th and won the playoffs after upsetting Blackburn and then upending Huddersfield in the final.
No real success in the cups this time around, out in the 1st round of the League Cup to Northwich Vics 6-5 on penalties...9 of them actually. The Vans Trophy saw us lose 2-0 at Blackpool in the 2nd round. The story of our cup "run" however was the visit to Old Trafford. The million pound payday after a 3-0 loss was all that kept us from losing money this season.
Two job offers came in, one from 1860 Munich at about midseason, and then the mighty, but fallen, Arsenal come in to find a replacement for their sacked current ManUtd redhead. I, of course turned down both jobs, as I've got Rotherham on the up and up!
A 23 yr old AM R/L was rewarded with goal of the season, and I was awarded Manager of the Year, as well as having won the monthly title no less than 4 times.
We had both the 2nd and 3rd placed scorers in the division, both of whom I had with me at Peterhead, but the leader wasn't the former scoring star, he finished one goal back of my leader. That leading scorer, who did so for the second year running, also won Supporter's Player of the Year for the second year running.
Let's hope the dominance continues, and we make it straight to the Premiership!

I can't believe this...This is my squad (names removed, of course) at the end of our match. Screenshot of the match...
Thankfully only one is longer than a week, but all of them miss my next match. |

Six new players in over the season, three pre-season, three throughout the season. Finally my first ever loaned player as well needing him for cover after a bunch of long term injuries down my right flank.
Both the board and the fans expected to invest in new players, 50-1 odds to be promoted, midtable expected by the bookies. Had 5 pre-season job offers, getting a bit ridiculous now. Six more during the course of the season.
This season can only be described as a success. Took my position at the top of the table in week nine, and held it for the remainder of the season. Didn't drop points at home until Dec 15, didn't allow a league goal at home until Dec 30, and didn't lose at home until a 1-0 loss to Stoke, who finished 21st. The goal was a dubious penalty call, too. And of course we ran into
superkeeper. That ended up being our only home loss. Final record was 29-12-5 for 99 points, 90 goals scored, just 18 conceded. Rotherham United are going to play top flight football for the first time in their history!
Cup success was also there this season. The FA Cup saw us travel to Wembley to take on ManUre in the final. Lost 2-0, but they finished 4th, so that means Europe! By far the best showing in the FA Cup in Rotherham history, the previous best being equalled by me in the 5th round exit last season.
The League Cup was just as successful, as a 2-1 aet loss to Sunderland at the final Wembley was our fate.
The scoring leaders saw me have a man sit as joint top scorer with 29 goals, the man level with him in goals happened to go through to the playoff final, though! He was one of my new signings, an 18 year old at the time he moved to the side. Absolute dynamite. My trusty old striker whom I groomed in Peterhead sat 6th with 25.
Not surprisingly, that youngster was my supporters player of the year, and I ended up First Division Manager of the Year.
Well, here's to top flight football!
