Excuse me, I am 50 and I could probably still race you up Scafell Pike.

Bloody youngsters, probably can't remember that Stanley Matthews was still playing first division football at 50, before retiring from English football to play for a Maltese league team until he was 63.

Paul: Bet you anything you like you're not playing first division football when you're 50.
Steve: No, I know that. Coz of the smoking.
Paul: It's not the smoking, Steve, it's the crapness.

You'll probably beat me up there as well, i'd run the first few hundred yards and then collapse in a wheezing heap.
I have heard of Stanley Matthews but I didn't know that he was still playing top flight football at 50 and played in Malta till 63, but what year was that, i'm only 22 geezer.
Saying that, I would be up for that wheelchair race! :p

But those were the days when footballers wore suits not kits and they used to stand on the pitch saying "After you Sir" whilst allowing players to run past them!

Just cos you were in the stands watching and throwing your cap in the air when he scored, no need to get bitter with us young 'uns!!

Sir Stanley retired in 1965, he also got his last England cap in 1957 at 42 years old.

I also found this comment on the web. "Stan left Malta and moved to Canada where he continued to play until aged about 75"
