You don't know nuffink, just like when you take over a Conference South side you don't know anything about anybody.

Do you think it fits into the spirit of LLM?

Yes, a manager from Canada coming overseas probably would have some knowledge of players in Canadian teams, but so what? A team from Conference North/South isn't going to sign a player from over there IRL as the costs to bring them over, set them up with a home, etc would be so prohibitive.

Also a Canadian manager wouldn't necessarily know about any decent youth players from his home country, would he?

IRL you know the names of the players and you know how they played in several matches. And even that probably from a newspaper. You don't know how high they jump. You don't know how team focused are etc.
So, you need to send a scout there to get a full report. Mind you, but real managers (except that Arsenal eagle looking manager) do not go buying a player based on what they heard. They scout him first, see if he fits in the team and decide based on that.

So you need to scout players. See it is simple.
And BTW: this message is written after I took the pill

Don't listen to those bitches, Canadian bloke.

On the odd occasion that I manage abroad I always send a scout back to Jockland once a season.

Taking the realism angle again, it's realistic to assume that they haven't employed a brickie to manage the team so it's reasonable to assume that I'd have at least some knowledge of Scottish players. Sending a scout once a season compensates for this...and it's been discussed before and obviously forgotten.

Difficulty is getting them to sign for a foreign team....

So what you're saying Ian is that if he scouts his home country then he would be allowed to sign players from that country even if said country does not fall under either SYB or SWYCT?

If that's what you mean then I agree, however, he was talking about using previous knowledge, which if I remember correctly is still a big no.

If he meant using prior knowledge, there's nothing to discuss. No.

If however, he meant scouting his home nation, i personnally don't see a problem with that, even though i never do that.
