We haven't had a good long rant in this forum for ages, don't you think?
Picture the scene... It's October, and the mighty Potters are sitting in 8th in the Championship. A win in the next home game against Brentford would see us reach a playoff spot for the first time this season. Game under way, we hold out for a draw until we win a 93rd minute penalty. My Canadian AM/FRC steps up, takes the shot... and misses by a mile. ****. ****ing **** of a Yankee-wannabe . Later on, i discover that this fella has a rating of 7 for penalties, and there were 4 active players at the time with far better ratings in penalties. One would assume that, in the case i haven't bothered to assign penalty takers in the tactics screen, the AI would have the decency of instructing the best player out of the current playing lot to take a penalty. Oh well, whatever, nevermind.
Cue 5 months, 3 succesful penalty takes by the specialists, 2 broken legs and Stoke 6th placed in the Championship. Every other team in the playoff spots have played their game, and a win in this crucial derby against 9th placed Crewe would see us rise to 2nd place for the first time this season. Ref blows his whistle and we're under way. The current Norwich striker tucks in his 21st of the season after 3 minutes, my monstrous Scot striker replies with his 19th in the 6th minute. Cue 40-odd shots betweem the two sides (it was quite a game), we win a penalty in the 91st minute. Guess who ****ing steps up to take the most crucial penalty in the season. That's right, it's the ****ing Canadian again , while 3 guys who are better at penalties are still playing. I close my eyes in despair, but the git takes his time before shooting, so that when i remove my hands from my face, i see him stepping up.... shooting.... WIDE!!!!!!!! Next thing you know, my fist lands on the keyboard and several keys start flying around (i still haven't found the Page Down key as we speak ).

First you complain the game is to easy and promos come to easy, next you moan that it's too hard.
This will teach you to assign penalty takers.
Mind you, I have a midfielder with penalty taking 16. He misess every bloody penalty there is. Or should I say used to, since he doesn't take penalties anymore.
I had my star striker miss a penalty in the 92nd minute of the ECS playoff final that would have won me the match. We went on to lose the subsequent shoot out!
I still don't know which combination of attributes should tell you if a player is to take penalties or not. I don't get so many to learn quickly.
It's clear though that penalty rating alone isn't saying it all: my FC has a penalty rating of 18 and he managed to miss 2 penalties in 1 match within 15 minutes.
