Isn't there a hidden attribute to do with pressure situations or something? Would influence and teamwork have anything to do with this?
I dunno, I'm just boosting.

You could be right, I remember the early days there used to be a Big Game attribute.

My U-19 International GK seems unnaturally good at saving penalties. He's saved 3 of 5 in the last half dozen games.
Now I have to work out how to stop giving away so many fecking penalties in the first place.
I have had the AI pick crap penalty takers ahead of good ones, but primarily I've seen my best SC used.
Try letting the AI pick takers for a shootout. That's an experience  I tried it once, and my GK ended up taking one. He had a 1 rating, and predictably missed |

Recipe for disaster. Every penalty taker that i've chosen has missed one or more penalties, which is why i don't mess with it anymore.
And the superkeeper bug is no myth . If you don't believe me, ask Jordi. |

If my strikers place 30 shots at the keepers' body, that means they are rubbish/unlucky/off-form; not that the GK needs drug testing.
Superkeeper is just managerial paranoia for FM players. As the graphics mean we can't really tell whether a tackle was a foul or not, we cannot complain about refs like real managers do. Therefore, we invent a myth of black magic practicing keepers, so that the Fates are combined against us and that the teams' failings are not our faults but the works of unjust Gods/SI programmers.
As soon as luck goes our way, we then put it down to good work.
In the bottom leagues, you tend to miss a lot of penalties. Mainly due to your best player having a rating of 10.

There is composure of course, and this might have replaced an older 'hidden' attribute, but there is also a 'pressure' rating used in EHM and older CMs. They may be different, and as mnetioned there is a hidden 'big game' rating as well. It's possible that decisions might play a role too.
But for rant purposes, if there are hidden stats at play, all the more reason for our scouts to uncover at least *some* of these! Like I signed a really good young midfielder who was highly recommended by 3 scouts and was rotting away in an SPL team's reserves. I sign him, and once he joins I find out he's got a SLACK personality. Sure enough he doesnt train hard, misses training, gets upset easily..bah!
