Bryce Barnes is infamous around these parts
Default Bloody Hard Work Or Wot?

Okay, I've remained silent long enough. I can't stand it anymore, I have to vent.

I'm finding FM2005 amazingly difficult to succeed at. My biggest achievement thus far was getting Redbridge to the Conf National Play-Offs, where we lost in the semis.

I have dabbled in higher leagues by accepting job offers at Bradford City, and Stoke City, only to fail dismally. (Though I note a disturbing tendency for L1 and L2 clubs to offer jobs after mere midtable achievement in the lowest leagues.)

Tactical options are vast, varied, and inevitably futile.

I have been sacked from no fewer than 6 teams, and seem incapable of turning a profit for more than one season. My latest sacking, from the mighty Kingstonian; is what prompted this rant.

In short, FM2005 is LLaMa heaven

Okay, I'n calm now. Off to visit Frank and start a new game.

Got to second that. Its the first CM/FM game I've got completely hooked on since 01/02. I've not played online which is apparently **** but everything else seems great, its difficult but not impossible. Good realism and some shocking luck, noth good and bad. Really impressed at the moment.

I thought it was just me.
I haven't even managed to exit the Conference North yet, although I came close to exiting it the wrong way.

Took me four or five times and that was barely via the playoffs. I doubt I'll ever get promoted from the conference.

It is definitely harder. I find myself going to tactics and trying to tweak things a lot, which also results in watching almost every tight match in full mode...

I haertily concur. It's a keyboard smashing, tactic tweaking, cursing-at-the-screen, staying-up-past-my-bedtime pile of fun

yes, it's really got harder. In my last game in 03-04, took me three seasons to go up from Conference to Third Div, but after that we got consecutive promotions (with titles) to Div2 and Div1... Seems very impossible doing that now, which is

Also, giant-killing in Cups occurs rarely, as it should be, if I'm not mistaken.

Financial side of the game has got pretty hard, also. Can't wait for St. Albans to go Pro and bankrupt in a near future.
