The Random LL Team Generator has spoken and given me a team...and that team is Kelantan in the Premier League B of the Malaysian league!
For those of you who don't know much about the Malaysian league, join the club. The first thing that surprised me though is that the Premier League isn't the top league, rather the equivalent of the English Championship. The top league is called the Super League and has eight clubs in it. I'm not sure how I get there but I'll let you know as soon as I find out...
There are 18 teams in the Premier League and these are split into 2 groups of nine clubs, unsurprisingly called Group A and Group B. 4 of the 18 clubs in the Premier League come from Kelantan. Two of us are in Group B, Kelantan (my team) and Kelantan SKMK. The other two in Group A are Kelantan JPS (John Player Specials anyone?) and Kelantan TNB (who I've decided to called Total Network ******** - some of you may get it...).
The media is a bit surprised that the board have appointed an unknown English manager to manage this bunch of 'relegation battlers' and I have been given a transfer kitty of 5000 quid to save the team from relegation and my immediate sacking. My Assistant Manager says that Kelantan have absolutely no chance of surviving unless they are strengthened in every department...well, I like a challenge! And there is one positive - the stadium holds 30000. I just hope i get get a few people to come and watch us...
I hope you'll all wish me luck on what is sure to be a journey in the dark for me, whether I use the real players (I'm not) or not. Reports to follow...
Kelantan is my hometown .... I'll be glad if u can help us avoid relegation. As of now the club is in administration & already relegated to lower division.
Just to add a few more infos
1. SKMK team is funded by a transportation company (Syarikat Kenderaan Melayu Kelantan)
2. JPS stands for Jabatan Pengairan & Saliran, some sort of Water Management Department (Government Department)
3. TNB stands for Tenaga Nasional Berhad aka National Electricy Company.

Now that's what I love about this game. One guy posts his news about managing the most obscure club in the most obscure country in the world and a fanboy from that very town reads it. Magic!
[Says he posting from notown, Thailand ]
PS IIRC Peter Withe is your national manager so you'll have one mate.
It's the end of the first season now and I think I've just had my worst ever season playing any of the SI games (and I've been playing since the very start!!).
I should have known that it would be difficult when I saw the odds for my matches. Only in the cup was I favourite for my match. That was against a non-league team and they beat me 3-2 over two legs. In the league games, my best odds to win a game were 9-1 against and in some matches I was 50-1 against (do such odds exist in real life?).
Anyway, the season in Malaysia's second division is played over 24 games and I lost the first seven, letting in countless goals. After 14 games, I'd won one, drawn one and lost 12. In spite of this I was still only about 8 points from the safety of second bottom and still confident but although my form improved with 2 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats from the final 10 games, I finished a whopping 14 points behind the second-last team and automatically lost my job as my team went out of the playable leagues.
There was plenty of wheeling and dealing done but the players I were bringing in either weren't good enough or struggled with the tactic (one I had never played before).
Happily some other sucker-team has decided to take me on as manager so as of season 2006 (the season only runs from February to September), I'm the manager of Terengganu who finished third-last this season. The finances are relatively rosy and there is money to spend but this time, I won't be spending too much time listening to my Assistant Manager who told me to put some of my best players on the list at Kelantan. When they finally got their chance, we started to improve...slightly.
The next update will be in a few days as my girlfriend will want a bit of attention over the weekend but I'll be back!
