Large DB, my PC can handle it so why go for less.

I use the retaining players option regularly, although very carefully. I always play games with leagues of only one nation loaded, and after 20+ seasons, the teams were full of Englishmen, wherever I was managing. I found it highly unrealistic that the Austrian leagues were full of them.

I fiddled around a bit, and was quite satisfied with retaining players from Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Austria and some other places that are typical origins for Austrian players, and I found that it led to a more balanced game.

I believe though that this option should be used very carefully, and like stated, it's a grey area.

I've never used it but can see Ollie's point and it use may be situational. there appears a bias toward English players and this may be due to movement in the game being easier than movement in the real world.

That is lower league computer controlled players may move around more than they would realistically.

Therefore in some cases judiciuous use of a ddt may actually hep with game balance for that particullar save based on the country you are managing in.

I tend to load the leagues that would logically feed into the league I am managing. But I can see Ollies point in using the ddt on some occaisions.
