It all depends what you call playable doesn't it?
If you don't care about winning or losing 6-5, 9-2, 6-3, don't care about getting sacked for no good reason, don't care about crazy transfer prices or players not closing down when you ask them to - or the other 100 major bugs reported, then fair enough it's playable.
If you want to play an accurate, intelligent, responsive football simulation game, it's unplayable.

Exactly. It annoys me somewhat when people start saying nothing is broken, this game is great and we don't need to wait for a patch.
Hold on, are they trying to insult our intelligence? I can see blatantly that there are many issues with this game. Alot of people can see it.
It is this kind of "SI is great regardless of what" attitude that makes them satisfied and careless. As a result, each year's release has less innovation and more bugs.
As for those that say well it beats waiting another 3 months, I beg to differ. This game currently frustrates me, and from looking at the forum, many other people too. It is ruining the FM series and my initial impressions of this game. I would much rather play something else for 3 months and then have an enjoyable experience from my favourite series.
Basically we are being used for UAT, but instead of them paying us to test for them, we pay them for the "honour". As an IT developer, I understand fully that it is impossible to find ALL the bugs in house. However alot of the bugs are very obvious and really impossible to miss. How can the whole testing team missing the fact that closing down doesn't work? How can the number of disallowed goals not be regarded as an issue? Optimistically, I would call that carelessness in the testing team. The other viewpoint is that SI knew but didn't care. It released the game anyway knowing full well of the issues. I am hoping that is not true because it would really ruin my loyalty to SI.
I love this series, I hope to eventually love this game. But I don't buy into all the "this game is the best ever" talk at all. There is obviously a problem and we need to raise that, else FM09 will also be a beta when it gets released. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Well put. Especially:
'It is this kind of "SI is great regardless of what" attitude that makes them satisfied and careless. As a result, each year's release has less innovation and more bugs.' and
'But I don't buy into all the "this game is the best ever" talk at all. There is obviously a problem and we need to raise that, else FM09 will also be a beta when it gets released.'
