Yes...

...Because we all know it's better to have a forum flooded with "where's our game?!" threads, than "where's our patch?!" threads.

Im sure developing and testing a game is very difficult, that is why FM is so unique, but that should not alter the fact that, as a paying customer we deserve a product to reach a certain standard.

Im sure FM 2008 will be another great installment in the CM / FM brand, once this waiting game is over..

I have no interest in blindly attacking SI, I just think we as customers deserve a little better

People wanted to play the demo and eagerly anticipated the actual release because they had confidence in SI that the game would be at least playable. When the demo/game was released, we have realised that SI failed us, they released a game that was half finished and contained at least 5 game breaking bugs on initial release. Some bugs could be noticed by a player in 1 hour playing the game yet were not identified by SI's testing. Our confidence/faith in SI was thus significantly lowered. It is our right to complain, it is SI's obligation to ensure the quality of their products, it is amusing to see a 'head translator' calling people with genuine interest in/complaint with the game/patch "moaners". </BLOCKQUOTE>

Khhhh... I find your ignorance of the testing process disturbing khhhh...

Profesor, Im just a little confussed, maybe you can help, and this is a genuine question..

Why when we buy a game, should we be concerned with the testing processes, should we not be concerned with how we are going to play the game ??

Im not having ago at anyone, im interested in knowing the answer

As to that, "people with genuine interest in/complaint with the game/patch" can be found in the bugs forum, reporting them. When you get half a dozen threads filled in with the same ol' rant of, e.g., "5 game breaking bugs", I call this moaning.

In the ideal world you would be absolutely right. But this is not the ideal world, and FM is a hellishly complex game, which means certain things have a nearly zero probablity of cropping up during the tests - especially as testers - as far as I can guess in a more or less educated fashion - get new versions of the pre-final game all the time as new features are introduced or perfected, so they do not get to spend a month on a single version. So there'll always be problems, and every single major game has them these days.

Which of course is not an excuse, and people speaking up here in favour of the SI crew do not deny the facts that (a) there are problems with the game, (b) it would be better if the game were released without them, and (c) gamers have every right not to be happy about this.

However, this is not the same as hijacking almost every single thread in the GD forum to repeat the same rant of "worst game ever", "SI rip-off", "want my money back", "won't be buying the game again" and of course "I have the right to moan"; in particular as the game is playable out of the box, and does not even resemble the CM 4 mess a few years' back, which said game did have a number of show-stoppers. And this is what my main objection is directed against; and, I guess, not only mine.

Well alot of people would argue that the game although playable (in the sense that it will not crash) is not playable because of alot of game altering bugs.

But, hey im not here to slag people of, or even to argue, but, i do not think that people who express an opinion positive or negative should be told not to express their personal opinion.

And yes there are alot of negative feedback regarding bugs and SI, there is also just as many messages saying leave SI alone, or just be patient, so i think its a bit of both to be honest..

Well as I said it I better answer.

No. No I wouldn't be sorry if the game came out.

I happily wait ages for certain games of certain franchises to come out. Doesn't bother me at all. Equally I am sick to the back teeth of games needing umpteen patches and would merrily wait 6 months longer if it meant my game actually worked out the box.

Nope that's a logical fallacy.

Let's take the following example :

SI announce the game will be released on 1/1/09. That eliminates most (obviously some stupid people will persist) of the "where is our game" threads.

The game is near perfect out of the box, barring the odd obscure bug, therefore no "where is my patch" threads.

Come 1/1/09 the forum will just be full of lots of "this is how my game is going" threads.

Is that too hard to fathom?

FM is, apart from the Sims, pretty much the largest selling PC game on the planet so it's not like SI are fumbling down the sofa for a couple of coppers.
