I was sacked as manager of Kayserispor in the Turkish Prem and the first I knew that I had been sacked was when I got a message saying my coach was following me out the door so that the new manager had a fresh start!!

Isn't there normally a message saying you have been sacked due to a bad run of results, etc??

Dunno. Gretna's previous manager didnt seem to be aware he'd been sacked, but yeah, they probably should tell you.
