I started the game off as the manager of spurs. They said they had a 2 year plan to win the league but for the first season the board expecation was a top half finish. I finished the first season (didn't win league) and the board expections again were to finish in the top half (finished 5th) but my contract wasn't renewed because I didn't win league even though I met the board expectations for both seasons.
Why is it there are two different expectations?

I think the season expectations are linked to your chosen budget, not your long term plans.
