Default Skinning in FM2007

Question for Ter really:

I always mod the default skin for my partially sighted friend - larger/different fonts, better contrast, removal of stuff that might make the screen harder to understand. When will the FM2007 skins be available to allow me to do this? Will I be able to use the skin included in the initial demo to make a skin that would be useable in the full game? Any tips would be useful too

Well I mean skinning for actual FM2007 - the script structure might be vastly different to 06.

And why is my location Birmingham? I live in Wolvo goddammit :S

Is it not possible for your friend to play FM in windowed mode and make use of the accessibility options Windows has for partially sighted people?

When the demo is released (usually around 2-3 weeks before release) you will be able to modify the skin to change whatever you like and that will definitely work with the full game.

Have you shown your friend the FM 2007 screenshots yet? And if you have is there anything in particular that your friend is having trouble seeing.

I will wave the screenshots at him and see what he thinks. He's been playing since before me, back in the early CM era on the Amiga. The general changes I make are:
[LIST]
Change the font to something like Arial, which has more 'internal character space' - i.e. it is less chunky and hence easier to discern

Increase the font size where possible, especially things like the news screen where there's plenty of real estate to go at. I increase it as much as can so it's still readable within the areas it fills. May not look as pretty, but that's not really the concern

Use PSP to darken most of the screen elements and lighten the text so you get better contrast. Admittedly, the new dark grey sidebar is going to help!

I believe I changed some of the icons in some way, but I can't remember right now!

I'm sure I've done some more things too, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I will have a look when I get back home on Sunday.

I should probably mention that he is registered blind, so when I say partially sighted, I mean he needs a cane to get around He can read the text quite well when he gets his head close to the screen, but obviously really small text is of no use!

I can quite easily put you in contact with him if you want to go into more detail. Just use the e-mail on my profile (with the obvious changes!)

@rasestock - While that is a reasonable suggestion, it tends to be better to run the game at the lowest possible res fullscreen, which makes text as large as possible.

@Barnsley - Villa actually, although I spend plenty of time in Molineux with friends (and in the Bescot, truth be known).

Does your friend find it easier to see the Stone/Silver Stone Skin?

I find them, especially the silver stone very clear and sharp (although I dont have poor eyesight)

Ive always wondered why SI hasnt used those skins as templates when designing skins. Also I think it would be good for 2007 to have an option of small, medium or large text sizes for skins.
