Does anyone know how I can put two Scottish teams into the EPL?

Simple.

In the editor, open up the EPL in competitions, and select the teams. Click on the first team you want to remove, and the swap button at the bottom of the editor will appear. Click the swap button, then the search window opens. Use the search window to find the old firm team, and double click on it. The team will now be in the EPL. Repeat step for the other team.

but can you still retain the club's nationality?

Yeah, you have to change all the swapped clubs nationalities afterwards back to what they were originally. When you swap teams in the editor it changes the nationality as well, so you have to manually correct it afterwards.

but i tried it with fm07..and it will crash if i do that

I did it in 07 and made sure the teams kept their original nationality. The problem was that my teams were unable to qualify for Europe, so you may want to be careful. I didn't try it in 08.

For gods sake, DON'T USE THE EDITOR for this.

That is why SI created EDT files - so you don't have to edit the database.

Basically:

create a new text document, call it "Swap.edt"
In that document, add the following two lines:

"SWAP_TEAMS" "Rangers" "Liverpool"
"SWAP_TEAMS" "Celitc" "Chelsea"

Save the file and place it in the EDT folder under the db you're using.
When you start a game, go to the "extra Files" option and choose your EDT file.

Use whatever teams you want, but make sure you keep the quotation marks.

This method works 100% of the time and will never ever wreck your database.

Does this way :

1. Retain the origal clubs nationality
2. Make them eligable to play in Europe
3. Trasfer their reserve and u19 teams to the league aswell?

I'm not sure if it's the same using an edt files, but when using the editor the reserves play in the reserve league of the clubs nationality. For instance, if you move Rangers to the Premiership and change their nationality back to Scottish, then their reserves will play in the Scottish reserve league, as long as you have the Scottish league running as well. It's the same with under 18s/19s.

On the subject of continental football, David Fairbairn mentioned that he put an Asian team in the Premiership and led them to the title, and they then qualified for the Asian Champions League, rather than the European. So continental qualification is based on club nationality too.

Yeh, im understanding that now mate.
So you cannot move the Rangers reserves and u19s to the English ones no?
The problem is but, when i move Rangers to the EPL the option of moving a player to the reserves is gone, same goes for u19s.
Might play about with the editor and make a database, try it and see how it works. Ill back up the 8.0.1 db anyway.
