Starting to perform superbly with this tactic now. With some better players brought in through the summer, performances and results have been even better this season. Still missing too many easy chances, but with budget players it's too be expected I guess.

No goal conceded in 8 games now, including cup games against higher division opposition!

The only two changes made from the original tactic have been to take the two wing backs long shooting down from often to mixed.

Anyone else tried this tactic yet?

Gonna try it out with Leeds now, could u look at the team and see who u would recommend to play in the positions???

if you pla 3 def it's sooooo much better to play a sweeper. try it check GABI80 thread on 3-man defence

Leeds should be ok, but I'll have a look at the squad they begin with tomorrow. Most strikers seems to do fine for me, and in midfield and defence Leeds should be fine as well.

Just the two wing backs may need looking at. But I don't know the starting squad so unsure what they have at the momemnt, will try to tlook in the morning.

Back to back promotions secured with Wrexham now, things are going well. Got a young squad and the championship does frighten me a bit. Going great guns though, only change from original tactic was to move wing backs shooting from often to mixed. This has been a fine setup for me.

I like using wingbacks but if you're using one holding midfielder it's best to make the CB a sweeper.

This way you're creating more triangles on the park and the DM doesn't cover the same space as the CB.

However my prefered 3-5-2 formation is this:

The advantage of this formation is that the two holding midfielders sit in front of the back three nicely in between the gaps. It's perfect in terms of field positioning and it creates many triangles all over the park both in defence and in attack. The attacking midfielder is in a great position to make incisive through balls to either forwards.

It's good to see that you're having success with the tactic. The wingback formation is definately suitable for lower league sides since the overload in midfield allows you to play a short passing game and quality wingers are hard to come by.

Not so, employ the middle DC as a "sweeper" with lower mentality and closing down than those either side of him - still using a flat back three. Job done.
