A player has a natural position for AML but your formation is playing a ML with farrows.

Can the AML play in the ML position even if there is no positional markng there for him bearing in mind he will be farrowed and therefore running into his natural position a lot.

Need this cleared up because I need an ML and want to know if the likes of Malouda and Ben arfa are suitable based on this decision.

an AML usually has accompished or competent on the ML role, check his positions. I almost always use AML/Rs on ML/R roles since they often have better pace and crossing

AMLs can play at ML, but ML might not necessarily be able to play at AMLs.

In the case of Ben Arfa, I used him as ML when I was playing with Real Madrid - he was my top player when it comes to average rating and assists - usually 30+ assists each season.

A player who has no rating for ML, but does for AML, will play almost as well in ML. The difference loss is negligible. Therefore, anyone with a rating for AML/R can safely be used in ML/R. (as well as FL/R)

The reverse is not true though (rating for ML, but none for AML)
