It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Can you explain your reasoning for playing direct and quick in wet weather?

I read in Marc Vaughn's Hints and Tips that the ball skips of the wet surface in wet weather - so I tend to play short, slow and narow which works well for me. I also give a few players the long shot instruction to test the goalkeeper with the slippery ball.

Certainly in windy conditions and hot temperatures short passing, slow tempo and narrow is the way to go IMHO.

Ok how to counter the following:

Defensive 3-5-2 Formation

Don't play a paticular passing style and like to mix it up a bit

Forwards are unlikely to trouble us for pace but our defense should guard against complacency

Will look to use the aerial power of xxxxx so we should look to cut off supply to him

Someone once advised doing the opposite to what other teams do works.

i.e. go direct passing if they play it short. Well der! Surely then there tactic is also opposite to yours???

I once had 5 scouts scouting the next opposition and they all came up with a different dangerman.

My advice is concentrate on your own team and use scouts to find players
Yes but this works! I've tried concentrating on my own team and not had any real success, even with teams like Liverpool. As soon as i've switched to countering my opponent, suddenly i'm on a 12 match winning streak.

We all have our own way of playing the game, and this is the way that some of us choose to do it. Now back to topic please.

Very very well done. Helped a lot. To contribute; I noticed that when I get this report: "XXX play a high tempo 442 and like to get the ball into wide positions when possible" and the team seems to be worse than mine, I pretty much narrow my formation, go for direct passing and quick tempo, pretty deep defensive line (maybe 6 towards deep) and defensive mentality (5-6 towards defensive) and barrows on my fullbacks. Works a charm. Cheers.
