I have found in matches were people think i will get slaughtered that going into attack mode for the first 10 mins can shock them into conceding an early goal.

I would play high team mentality ( about 16) mixed CF , Closing down of 4 , mixed timewasting , width 15. I would also tightmark , hard tackle and weaker foot brian howard.

Also were the scout report says prevent strikers getting ball to feet. I would tight mark and hard tackle there strikers.

Playing this way sometimes shocks a team your expecting to lose against. If i was lucky enough to go 1-0 up i would straight away switch to a low mentality counter attacking system. I would also go more narrow.

I would also set individual mentalitys to a bit more defensive . I always go opposite player mentalitys to team. So eg if i set team mentality to 16 i will set individual mentalitys lower.

Sounds messed up I now but working for me

tomescan this is an older arsenal i was playing so it's not quite as fast. Still good points you make.

As far as your match against Gillingham, i'd go pretty attacking with a semi-wide formation on short passing and slow pace. you could hover your defense around normal. If you find your passing stats are horrendous check and switch to direct.

weak foot both their strikers

If I was to go 1-0 up. I would instantly turn my mentalitys down and counter attack at least for 10 mins ( seems to eliminate instant replys).
Ok, what in the scout report is telling you to go width on 12 and time wasting 10 ?

Also why tight mark, hard tackle and how do you weak foot somebody ?

Against 4-1-4-1:Use Man Marking
Defend deep because of pacey strikers:Go six nothces into deep for defensive line
Defense vunerable to pace:Use strikers with quick pace and acceleration
Defensive 4-4-2 Formationlay 15 team mentality
Direct passing and quick tempo:Match them if better team, or go Short passing and slow tempo
If you choose to play defensive: Counter attack switched on
In Bad Weather conditionson’t play short passing / too wide
Intelligent midfielder:Closed down always, forced onto weaker foot
Like to get the ball down and play it:Closing down to 4, use direct passing
Like to get the ball down and play it:Use short passing, and slow pace
Looks like your going to get slauteredlay attacking football first ten mins to try and get an early goal
Opposition play counter attacklay attacking football, use short passing and slow pace
Potential Threat:Man Mark Player
Prevent strikers getting ball to feet:Hard tackle and tight mark strikers
Strong and organised defense:Go three notches into attacking, tempo and direct passing
The midfield work hard for eachother:Closing down to 4, use direct passing

In Game
Come at you more attacking then expectedrop to go more defensive, play counter attack
Counter Attack not working:Go more defensive, last notch
Go 1-0 UpGo to defensive, and play counter attack, go narrow if wide
Go 2-0 DownNotch three up into attacking, tempo, direct passing, switch counter off
Player Sent OffStriker off to fix shape
Weather changes to wetlay direct and quicken tempo

Something like this looks really good to me. Haven't really tested it to see if it is effective, but looks really helpful.

I always find that playing short and slow tempo against a ' Half Decent ' team who ' Like to get the ball down and play it ' gives them the oppotunity to do just that.

I 90% of the time go low closing down , direct passing and quick tempo against teams who like to get the ball down. I presume if you are not trying to pull off little passes in the middle of the park the opponents can't enjoy the possesion football they like.
