Sorry - I should have made that clear. I am using the 4132 for both home and away. Only change I make for away is to turn down mentality by three and creative freedom by three and counter attack.

Atletico dont have a great transfer budget but their first eleven are so good that you really dont need it anyway and their strengths are similar to Liverpool which is why I decided to try this.

Transfers in: G Obertan 1 million euros (in case Maxi gets lured away)

No it isnt but everything seems to flow through the central midfielder - Jurado in my case, Gerrard in sock's.

Jurado is pinging out about 60 odd passes in home games, slightly less in away games as you have less of the ball

I think the key to this is the quality of the CM ( I may be wrong here) and that this might not suit teams where the CM does not have high creativity and passing.

Yes most definetly - although it should still work with an average cm, a good cm (and even better a good dm behind them) will win you games - i had a 50m offer for gerrard (from chelsea) after the first season using this formation for example. Other peoples experiences are similar, play anyone decent midfielder in that position and their price goes through the roof as they are making all the plays (with or without playmanker option on). A similar effect happens with the DM if you set him to playmaker, shares passes equally with the CM (see the full notes).

Im working ona new version of thios tactic, about 1/2 way through testing, getting N Forest into the Champs League, once I win the PL and CL with them Ill post it - maybe never!

The 50m offer was in my second game which was i kep Gerrard until he retired and i turned it down even though this hurt.(he gets very slow from 33yrs and I had to drop him, couldnt bear to let him go for just 4m. He ended up as a coach and if I ever continue that game, which I last left at 2018, he would be a great asst mang. (When I retire Ill continue a few games to see if he becomes manager)

In this same game i bought Deco from chelsea, he was upset at not being played and forced the move - aged 29 for 5m!!!

tried this with my Liverpool team in my 3rd season.

It has potential but it was far too inconsistent for my liking.

I leaked far too many shots and despite the defensive style of the full backs the opposition always had a man over on crosses.

Great going forward though.

I had a bit more success defensively when i had my CBs on tight man marking and FBs of tight zonal marking.

third match- away against a stronger side. got a player sent off then went 3-0 down including one of the worst own goals you'll ever see. result: 3-3
