I am probably too impatient myself. I will change a tactic at halftime if I think I am underperforming and never try it again.

How long do you think is neccessary to fully judge a tactic?

I'd say three or four games

Honestly, you have to give it a much longer time than 3 or four games and certainly more than a half. Much like real life, I find that my team plays better if I pick one tactic and stick with it. That's not to say that I don't make in game adjustments, but I start out each game with the same tactic. I've gotten Wigan to the Champions League in 3 seasons by sticking with the 4-4-2 diamond with defensive line deep and playing target man to head with much success.

Stay with a solid consistent tactic for at least 4 games so as to let your players adjust.

If its a bad tactic you should know after the first game...if its one that holds its own and you notice good chances developing whilst holding onto a clean sheet then its worth going with it for a couple of games while you adjust the offensive end.

When it comes to a tactic that doesn't work...I usually make a decision after the one half of play, that is usually enough. Once a tactic is solid, it goes from strength to strength as you use it more often
