I got Wigan to 3rd in the Premiership and Champions League while using previous tactics, i.e 4-4-2 regular and other tactics with not nearly the success.

I've also learned to build through defense and sprinkle in a fast striker and its a lethal combination.

I've also found that the best thing to do is find a formation and STICK with it. Do not change it, at all and over the long haul you will be MUCH more successful.

The 3rd was after two years of middle of the pack to 17th. So I wouldn't agree. I stuck with the formation/style and got players in that fit the tactic and over time they matured into their roles. Just like it should work in real life.

I wouldn't say it's easy, at all.

i agree - the most success i have had on this FM was when playing a 442 diamond with AM and DM and short farrowed wingers.

using this tactic with a split global formation got me 3rd in my first season with everton and 1st in second season

usually i would prefer to play a 4231 but just cant get it working!
