Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Can anyone give me some tips on going forward or dominating games?

I previously posted because I was struggling fullstop with Leeds. I was pointed towards Cleon's posts and I have read some and I now have a better understanding of the game and setting up my definsive tatics to try and keep it tight. To some extent this has worked and I am a better side but I am far from dominant and half the time it just appears that the oppositions poor finishing is why i'm picking up points.

Reading some peoples posts for example the beginnig of Cleons Sheff U post he was playing badly against Wigan changed to defensive and counter attack and ended thrashing them 5-1, stuff like that certainly doesn't happen with me.

I have a reasonable squad but its a long long way from great and yet i'm odds on every match sometimes as much as 1-8 to win away from home!

I've tried reading the posts that look like what i'm after but they don't really help and there are some many of them, as a working, married man i don't have time to read and experiment with everything said or my divorce will be going through around the same time as FM08 is coming out... and I still won't be any good.

OK, so I'm not an expert on Leeds and I can't give you perfect advice on how to dominate the game, but I sympathize with your situation.
How are you balancing individual instructions with team instructions? As you go forward are your individual mentalities spread to far out or is there a gradual increase. Many players argue for an increase of only one between positions and some argue for, at most, two. You need to try out different mentalities and see what is working.
Also how are you passing the ball? If you are just kicking the ball up and your front line aren't fast enough you're not going to get your chances. I usually start with short passing and watch my teams stats and, if appropriate, increase it as the game goes on. I also slow my team down if they aren't getting chances.
You need to take the time and take advantage of your teams individual qualities and use Opposition Instructions before the game to exploit weaknesses.
Long story short, take your time playing Matches and adjust during the game It might take longer to complete a season, but I've found I get better results and its less frustrating.

Thanks for the advice.

I must admit playing slower seems to produce better results.

I just find it so hard to figure out a game that has changed so much in such a short space of time, especially as my spare time decreases.

Its not much fun spending what spare tim you have playing a so called game that you are really struggling to win at.
