Specifically for my fellow Toon Army, if you're struggling then give this a go it's worked a treat for me
It's nothing fancy, in fact it's very simple indeed, the Team Instruction sliders control pretty much everything with the exception of couple of instructions in defensive positions. I set out with the intention of scoring more than the opposition but somewhat weirdly it's done the opposite and is the most solid tactic I've came across yet on FM07, I'd regularly go 4,5 and on one occassion 9 matches without conceeding. In season 2 with a very settled defence I had the league won and only 14 goals were conceeded. Now I'm sure that's down to a number of factors including a certain Mr. Taylor and Mr. Woodgage performing excellently all season long in their man marking roles.
To go into slightly more detail how the system is supposed to work, there's the man marking DC's as above and quite attacking fullbacks that close down relatively high. The fullbacks offer the width in deeper positions if and when the wingers run forwards past the strikers. The two MC's are box-to-box and neither is dedicated to bombing forwards or always staying back. The strikers have FR's set to Mixed and coupled with the Team mentality approach may come deep at times and play in between the opposition midfield and defence linking up with each other or playing it through for the wingers who may well be ahead of them. Basically it may look like this:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">ML MR FCL FCR MCL MCRDL DR DCL DCR</pre>
Team Instructions Home matches I usually line up like this. In Away matches I usually play a Narrow game with a more Defensive Mentality and as you can see the Fullbacks FR's have been knocked down to Mixed FR's (set to Often for home).
Disclaimer (Got to be done these days)
* Only been tested with NUFC, hence the opening sentence.
* If it doesn't work, it's not crap, you just don't have the right squad for it.
I had a quick go with these tactics, i must say i was very impressed, 5 games with Villa, all wins and not a goal against so far. The tactics are almost default settings, i am going to do more testing, it looks promising though.
I appreciate that you made this especially for Newcastle and i worked really well so, kudos, but for me as Pompey, no good. KUTGW though. Would be intrigued to see if anyone had good results with it.

I am going to do a test starting from the top down. I will do a full season with Valencia and report the result.
All i will use are the home and away versions, and a third a tweaked slightly Shut Up Shop version.
Should mention that if anyone gave me problems it was Chelsea and that system where they play a AMR/L off a targetman. I've not got round to playing another team who uses the system yet to try and adjust my setup for it but I believe it may be more common in Spain so I'm interested to hear 1) if it causes major problems there and 2)what you have tried to do to counter it.

Bux, I'll definitely try man-marking on my CD's cos I'm not very satisfied with the way they play. Opposition forwards have too much space. I tried tight marking and the things went better, but still there is something...........hope man marking helps me .
To stop 4-3-3 I've found that I definitely have to man mark AMR/AML with my fullbacks, otherwise the crosses, especially the deep crosses from one winger to another will kill you
