It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Im just about to get going with fm again, had a break whilst waiting for my new laptop to arrive

I intend to work on Venom though, namely a version to use for away games. I'll keep you posted.

Haven't really downloaded anyone elses tactics for a good while now.

My own devised using ideas found in the slider apathy thread are working fine.

BUT when Buxton uploads a tactic I sit up & take notice.

I'm going to take a look at this one.

1st glance seems interesting that you've bucked the trend for aligning tempo & passing, mentality & width & closing down & defensive line, although I've never quite understood the last one although it appears to work for my tactics.

I don't think there's set ways you've got to play like aligning tempo and passing to be successful.

I've seen so many examples of other people having loads of success with instructions that I thought just shouldn't work but have.

Just started a game with Everton (only 1.5m to spend! ) and am using Venom. Going to see how it plays with them for a few matches before tweaking things.

Right I think I've struck gold straight away with alternative versions.

My last away game against Wigan (who i've not got a good away record against in the past) resulted in a 4-0 victory with the following changes:

- Team Ment set to 14 (both home and away use this now)
- Closing Down set to same as D-Line (9)
- Width set to 1st Narrow
- Fullbacks FR's set to Rarely

I then played Arsenal at home and used the above with the following changes and got a 4-1 win which easily could of been 6:

- Closing Down set to 15

With the intention of keeping it tight but utilising a high pressure system to stop them playing. I intend to use this setup for home games against what I regard as higher quality opposition.

small suggestion, but wwwfans idea about HUB on FB's works wonders.

Could you expand on the reasoning behind HUB on fullbacks or point me to the post which does?

Sadly this tactic is not working at all for my Spurs side.

Dominating possession but not creating enough chances & conceding plenty.

I've gone from 1st place to 6th in a matter of half a dozen games & none of the opponents I faced were all that either (got beat 0-3 at home to Charlton in one ) .

Cant understand it really as my previous formation was exactly the same shape just different instructions.

I've moved onto another formation myself, a 4-1-4-1. Just fancy trying something different for a while.

6th post down, he refers to holding up the ball with several players but i only use it on the FB's. If you have them crossing from deep, you see the fullback timing the cross to the strikers/wingers forward runs, i've had a few headed goals this way from this, and the delivery seems far better than not having it set.

they don't seem to do it if they are under pressure so they don't get caught that often.
