Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Hi everyone, I am currently managing stevenage in league one with a fairly good team anyway, i have been impressed with the amount of goals my team can score away for instance on a regular basis i score at least one however, if i could match this scoring by tightening up my defence, i feel i could have some fairly good wins. I have tried a deep and normal defence, i have adjusted the mentality of the centre backs but i still can't find a solution. So i was wondering if anyone had any advice which would help greatly. Thank you

Try buying better defenders, or if funds are tight try loaning players from the premiership U18 squads who perform well in the lower leagues.

Jack Hobbs, Michael Mancienne, Godwin Antwi, Seb Hines and Craig Cathcart have all done well in league 1 for me in the past.

I have similar concerns with my Dorchester team in the Conference Sth. Scoring quite well but conceeding. Players will make some difference but overall it as everything in this version does comes down to tactics. The hard thing is getting your defenders to show urgency in defence when you have tempo turned down(so your strikers dont screw up every oppurtunity). I have found that in away games if I have an early lead to employ my defensive tactics immediately and try to frustrate the AI. Seems to work most of the time. 4 men back no fwd runs, Dm with bakward runs and wingers tracking bak with long ball on and closing dwn full but easy tackling. And i usually rather than have 2 fwds have 1 fwd and 2 AMC. Doeasnt work all the time but what does in this version. That's half the fun! Good luck buddy.
