Stick Torres/Villa or even Klose on the top of that formation instead of Tevez who is a AM, who if he's going to be played as a Striker he needs a striker partner and not a lone striker...
from your screenies, i have found from my experience, several of the settings you have currently would need changing.
again in my experience, i've tried the settings you have as well, but after not getting the desired results, i made several changes.
considering the team instructions (for home i'm guessing), you opted to defend deep and normal mentality, cut the CF, CD and upped the time wasting. with man u?
at home you need to control the play. deep defensive line is fine, as long as you balance things off, by having a higher mentality, and higher closing down. this is necessary for possession football, even if you defend deep.
when you're away, ok i see you want to put more pressure on the opposition by having a slightly higher defensive line. that can be fine. but the beauty of the counter attack lies in the depth of defence, which soaks attacks, draws opponents in, then destroys with quick attack. so even the tempo is not right imo. CF, CR, W, PS, M seem ok with me, however, with a team like man u, i never start defensive.
also, you have creative players, and in both tactics you have CF lower than normal. this i guess would be ok as long as deserved individuals get higher CF setting
One simple thig is to swap Tevez and Rooney. A lone striker needs to be strong. Tevez isn't. Also Tevez is much more of a 'winger' type player with his dribbling. For an example of Teveza being a useless lone striker look at, um, the current premier league table
Yes, swap Tevez and Rooney - give either Tevez or Ronaldo a free role, give all 3 of your attackers much creative freedom. You have a defensive midfielder, so give the other 2 midfielders permission to go forward to assist the attack. I would start with a high(ish) defensive line, play short but wide, high closing down, and then to ease up on those settings as you start to (hopefully) defend your lead. You should not have to tick the counter attack box, unless you need to defend a 1 goal lead near the end of the match. Counter-attacking is a tool for teams that are hard pressed and basically outclassed by the other team - ManU rarely is. Top teams like ManU WILL counter attack anyway, if the opportunity arise - ticking the counter-attack box says "hey, please come at us, we'll just sit here deep and defend" ... ManU doesn't need to do that.
I'm looking at your tactic, and my advice to you is to try playing a little bit wide,as your players's positioning make me think your getting dominated in the flanks, move CR on the left,I also noticed you have Ratinho, use him on the right instead,WR upfront, from what I know CR gets into the oppositions box for the crosses,he can score plenty with his header, don't use him as a corner taker!
Use Pique instead of Rio,and set your DC's mentality into Def and use their passing style to Long and focus it to center, that'll give you a boost in the attack! Also Rooney free role!Good Luck!
are you sure about cb pumping long balls to the center? i use to have my fb on crossing "often" and have seen my players incapable of winning the headers.

okay im gonna admit. i have trouble playing with man utd.
ive got the latest patch and fmf updates on.
yes.. i know.. the likes of hargo and tevez..
this game is driving me nuts! i try to have both tevez and rooney in the lineup by playing a 4231.
with this lineup. i have alot of possession but i just cant do nut with it. lacking cutting edge. just like irl man utd right now
how do i turn my possession into goals?
i also notice my wingers.. esp ronaldo. cant beat anyone and hes crosses are always deflected by the first man avail. why issit so? ive played arnd with settings, trying crossing from byline and such, but to no avail?
Try This:
tevez
ronaldo Rooney
hargo scholes carrick
evra vidic Rio Neville
The problem is that your upfront players are too close and easy to mar-you need more width. Make the tempo fast(17), Widt 20 and
put Farraws to ronaldo and rooney, use ronaldo on left wing(I test this a lot and he is scoring loads of goals from there- 25+ per season), give ronaldo and rooney free rows, mentality of 16, FR-mixed, RWB - oftnen, CF 0f 8,CB-rarely, CD-16, TTB-mixed.
Use Tevez as a lone striker wit mentality of 17, FR,RWB-often, the other settings on mixed. Tick Hold up Ball for him. Five him CF of 8 and he will be fine.
Play flat 3 MC with the MC in the middle with mentality of 16, CF of 17 and TTB-often. For the midfielders and attacers use passing 1(very short).Turn FRs fo the D L/R off and pake them pass mixed(10). Make Rio pass 13, FR-mixed,TTB-mixed,RWB-mixed(direct), Vidic pass 8, FR,RWB,TTB-off. This kind of setting have to work.

Or if you want I can mail to you my 4-3-3 tactics which I use and have tested a lot and works perfekt with the same kind of players you have.
Teams are going to come to your ground looking to sit back and defend it so you got to go attacking maybe all out attacking to get as many players forward as possible. Give the team more creative freedom this is man u after all. If your playing one up front free roles might be necessary to get some support up there for the striker. Not really got these ideas in a tactic the tweaking will be up to you but you definatley need a way more positive approach as others have said.
